Due to the number of students, faculty, staff that need access to Yale buildings, requests are vetted and submitted by a smaller predetermined population, who are referred to as “Access Authorizers”.
These individuals have the authority to request, deny or have access removed from anyone for sites under their purview. This ensures all requests go through an approval process, and are reviewed before reaching Access Control.
The role of “Access Authorizer” is usually given to individuals who are operations managers, senior administrative assistants, or in various senior leadership positions. They work closely with the Public Safety Systems Access Control team and are provided with all of the required information to request, administer, and audit access for their facilities.
Any individual not listed as an access authorizer must contact the access authorizer for that site to gain access. Access requests for any reader throughout the university will not be granted from anyone who is not an access authorizer.
