Your Yale ID is your key to campus. By carrying your Yale ID, you help foster a secure environment and ensure a seamless experience with access to university buildings. While some buildings are open to the public without an ID, you will encounter many door readers that require swiping your badge for entry.
General Access Versus Assigned Access
Many academic and public spaces on campus have open hours when students, faculty, employees and affiliates can gain entry using a Yale ID without requesting access. Access to these spaces is automatically applied. However, access to more secured facilities may need to be requested and assigned. If you need specific access to a building or extended hours to an open building, contact your business office or the operations manager for the department.
Door Schedules
There are specific buildings on campus that will have an accessible predefined entry during set hours, or a "green lit" perimeter door.
